Bio

Elissa Spinks is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). First joining the field of applied behavior analysis (ABA) in 2012 working as an intern within a learning and language program at the Marcus Autism Center in Atlanta, Georgia, she quickly realized that she wanted to pursue a career working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. Following the completion of her undergraduate degree, Elissa began working as a behavioral therapist in the Pediatric Feeding Disorders program where she was able to work with children with a variety of medical needs and continued to gain experience conducting behavioral assessments, implementing behavioral interventions, and teaching caregivers to implement their children’s treatment plans. Following her training at the Marcus Autism Center, she began working toward her master’s degree in ABA at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County while working as a behavioral therapist within the inpatient neurobehavioral unit (NBU) for severe behavior at the Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore, Maryland. During that time, she feels she gained invaluable experience conducting a variety of specialized assessments, assisting with treatment evaluations, training staff, and generalizing patients’ intervention plans to the natural environment. For the past six months, she has worked at the TK Martin Center as a teacher assistant and has seen firsthand the amazing work being done with and for the individuals served here. Elissa is excited to join the team at T.K. in a more behavior-analytic role providing individual therapy through Project IMPACT.
